I know there is a least one book in me to write. It seems like every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to write a book. Some people start but never finish and others talk about writing a book but never actually do. A smaller number of people finish writing a book but it is a piece of crap that nobody would publish never mind buy. I don't want to be one of those people that never finishes. It could be a piece of crap for all I care as long as I finish writing it. It would be a way of getting this book bug out my system. I think everyone that is plagued with this bug should finish writing a book no matter how crappy it is because it would be like a purging. They would finally get a feeling of completion and closure. You would finally know for certain whether you have what it takes to write a good book.

Standard Time

We are now back on standard time. Yippee! I just wish we were on standard time year round like Saskatchewan. Why on earth are we fooling around with clocks in the first place. It is silly putting the clock ahead one hour and back one hour. Even when we are on day light saving time I am still woken up by the sun before I have to get up and I am still waking up in the dark on standard time so fooling around with clocks is stupid. It throws people off their schedules. Most people have a set time for eating, sleeping and other bodily activities. This fooling around with clock is hard on people. Did you know the day after the time change people are more likely to get into car accidents? It goes to show you we are making it tough on people fooling around with clock. What about science and accuracy. How is fooling around with time going to help? Can workers put the clock ahead an hour so they can leave work early when they feel like it? No so why are we screwing around with the time as a society? Let's have standard time year round and no more changing the clocks!

Been Sick lately

I have been sick lately with a stomach virus that made me puke and shit at the same time which then lowered my immune system even further so a cold virus could work on me. Hospitals and public transit are both very germy places where you can pick up almost anything. The tests supposedly weed out unsuitable candidates for the job but honestly I don't think they work all that well. The online job tests don't test for reliability, punctuality, competency, honesty, hard-work and likability. The test only weeds out those that are complete idiots or who are lousy at taking tests or people who are honest. What you end up having come to an interview are a lot of liars and egotists. Sure there some competent people who make the grade for the interview but those tests don't weed out most of the unsuitable candidates. A lot of the online tests can be gamed. Take for instance the personality test that some companies make you take. You can easily figure out what answers to give based on the job you are applying to. For instance a retail job requires someone who is an extrovert so you answer the personality test as if you were extrovert. How is the company going to know the truth? They can't because they have never met you and gotten to know you on a personal level.

People can put on a phony act and act like they are all bubbly and outgoing and pretend to love meeting new people. Some people are great actors and have missed their calling. I've been to a group interview where I watched a sour puss middle aged woman all of a sudden morph into a smiling, animated extrovert who oozed enthusiasm for the job. Before the interview she was a grumpy sour faced woman who looked less than thrilled to be there. It was amazing how she switched on like that and morphed into this other person. The only thing with putting on a phoney act like that is it's hard to keep up once you are on the job. Putting on a act all day at work would be exhausting. I don't know how some people manage to do it. I know I wouldn't have the energy to pretend to be something I am not for 40 hours a week. Hey all you phoney extroverts out there you missed your calling as an actor.

Being True

I've just come to realize that I am not being true to myself. It seems as if I am taking jobs I don't want to do and don't like just because I want the money. I wish I could work at something that excites me instead of always doing crap that no one else wants to do and is someone else's dirty work. I don't want to spend my life doing something I loathe just because I need the money. I am sick of that nonsense. Life is too short to be miserable all the time. Experts and gurus say do something that you feel passionate about but I apply to those type of jobs I never get them. I always end up with the job that no one else in their right mind wants. That is why I get them because no one else wants it. Everybody is always head of me in the line up for the better jobs. I take pot luck. It is like I get the crumbs off the table. It's not fair but then who said life was fair. It got me to thinking of how to solve traffic gridlock. The reason we have traffic gridlock is urban sprawl. Urban sprawl occurs because of poor planning. They shouldn't be allowing companies to buy up farm land and build single family homes on it without there being any industry around them to employ people living nearby. What I see springing up around urban sprawl is big box stores that provide mainly part time minimum wage employment the type of employment that most people living in houses wouldn't take. These people end up having to drive a great distance to work at jobs that pay middle class incomes the type of income that would allow them to continue to live in the house they took a mortgage out on.

If developers want to build housing there should be a mix of condos, apartments and single family homes and there needs to be certain percentage of land set aside for commercial, industrial and civic use. To correct gridlock there needs to be more roads built and some existing roads need to be widen and some housing tracts in the urban sprawl areas need to be knocked down and the land turned over to industrial and commercial use to balance things out. We need more compact development and walkable communities where people can easily walk to the store, school or work rather than drive.

Also transit needs to be expanded to communities where there is none and it needs to run more frequently than every half hour. It also needs to be running 24/7 because our economy is running 24/7. Where I live transit doesn't start till 6:00 am and stops running at about 12:46 midnight. If I wanted to take a job that started at 5:00 am in the morning or a job that ended at 2:00 am in the morning I couldn't take transit ditto for shift work as well. They would get more people taking transit if they made it more convenient for people to take it. Doing these things would go a long way to easing congestion on our roads. Question is will the government get serious and do something about the sprawl and congestion on our roads or will they continue with the status quo and the congestion and sprawl just gets worse.

Stop Online Spying

I signed the online petition. It seems the government in this country is bound and determined to kill the internet experience for most Canadians by regulating it to death. First it was trying to meter the internet so most people can't afford to go online and now they want to force your ISP to buy expensive equipment to spy on you no warrant necessary and hand over that information to the government upon request. This information they collect can be stolen and abused by criminals. Plus any costs the ISP incurs from being forced to buy this spying equipment will be passed onto you the consumer. Don't let the government turn Canada into a police state sign the petition today and let the government know that you are not happy with this bill that is coming up in the House of Commons this fall.

<p>&amp;amp;amp;lt;p&amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;p&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;p&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;p&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;p&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;Loading...&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;/p&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;/p&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;/p&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;/p&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;lt;/p&amp;amp;amp;gt;</p>

Thoughts on social networking and what to tweet

I don't know what to tweet about most of the time. How do some people manage to find so much to tweet about? If I were to tweet as much as some people do I would end up tweeting about my breakfast I just had which wouldn't be very interesting. In fact one day I think I did tweet about a meal I had. With all this technology at my finger tips I am finding that I haven't much to say.

I also don't get why some people post all kinds of photos of themselves on their facebook page. Some people on my friends list have hundreds of photos of themselves smiling. Yes I know what you look like do I really need hundreds of photos of you smiling at the camera. Isn't that kind of weird if not vain to be posting that many photos of yourself in such a short span of time? You can't have possibly changed that much in looks in a 24 hour period of time. I could understand if you were on vacation and there was different exotic scenery in the background like say the Pyramids in Egypt but your back yard or rec room is really not that interesting to me. If you going to post that many photos of yourself at least be somewhere different doing something interesting for heaven's sake.

Bugs and more bugs

I am standing at the bus stop waiting for a bus when I feel something crawl up my leg. I need to spend less time on facebook anyways and this a perfect way of doing it. I also need to get back into the habit of drawing. I used to draw all the time when I was younger now I rarely draw at all. I may draw a picture about once a year if that. That's sad. It seems my life revolves around technology now a days. I think far too many people are in enthralled by technology. It's nothing to go out somewhere and see someone's face buried in their cell phone texting away or fiddling with the options on their phone. We are much too addicted to technology these days. The insanity has to stop. We are using up the earth's finite resources making all these gadgets that eventually end up in our landfill sites. It's a waste of time, resources and money. Not every Tom, Dick or Mary needs a cell phone or an ipad. These gadgets have become toys in the hands of many not a tool to use for work.

Reading slowly

I used to polish off a book in a week when I was younger not anymore. Now my blog looks less cluttered. I don't know how some people are able to make any money with ads on their blog. I know that when I visit someone's blog I tend to ignore the ads. It is a wonder anybody makes any money from ads but apparently some people claim that they do. I wonder what their secret is to get people to click on ads.

Anyways I don't think ads are a very good fit for a personal blog like mine. Nobody comes to my site looking for specific information. It's not like I can blog knowledgeably about one topic to get targeted ads on my site. I tend to blog about anything that strikes my fancy which does not make for ads targeted at a specific audience that would most likely click them. I don't think I could blog about one thing all the time. That would be too boring.

Will the world end tomorrow May 21 2011?

According to some it will be but you know what my prediction is? I have been taking them almost a week and I have more energy now than I've had in a long time. I actually feel like getting off my butt and doing something. I thought my couch potato ways was do to me being just bone lazy but I am not so sure anymore. I wonder how long I have had low iron levels. I hate to think ever since puberty hit but it wouldn't surprise me. I was a lot more physically active as child than as an adult. I hate to think I could have done a lot more things in my life if I had known sooner that my iron level was on the low side. I wonder what my energy levels will be like after a month of taking these pills. Anyways I will have to make more of a conscious effort to eat foods that are rich in iron. Apparently I wasn't doing a good enough job of getting iron in my diet.

Wasting time on Facebook

I been on Facebook since 2007 or 2008. I can't remember. It's been a while. When I first signed up, none of my friends were on it. It wasn't very fun and I rarely logged into my account but then Facebook started to take off and almost everybody was going on it. Now I wasn't friendless on Facebook. The problem came later when I started getting requests to play Facebook games. At first I pooh-poohed Facebook games as being lame but then I decided what the heck I will join one of the games just to keep some of my friends happy. I then discovered I liked playing Facebook games so much that I started playing them everyday until I hit a road block. I didn't have enough neighbours to finish goals so I stopped playing the games. I then I got this brilliant idea of befriending strangers on Facebook that were avid gamers too. Now I could complete my goals in the game yippee! Unfortunately I now find that Facebook sucks up too much of my time. I now have to ween myself off of playing Facebook games and quit annoying people by posting too many Farmville updates. I am sure some people will thank me for that one. ;-)

Weird House

I watched House M.D. last night and I must say this one of their weirdest episodes yet. This show beggars belief at times. The fool House takes an experimental drug for his leg that hasn't even finished testing on rats. The rats all develop tumours from it and then die. House becomes scared and x-rays his leg and discovers little tumours thorough out his leg but does he go to the hospital to get them removed initially NO! He decides he can operate on his own leg in the bathtub at home. A doctor who has himself as his own doctor is fool. There is a reason why we don't have patients operating on themselves even if they are a qualified surgeon.

In real life nobody like House would even be let into medical school never mind become a doctor. The characters in this show routinely do unethical things and break the law. For instance they break into patients homes searching for clues to their patients medical condition. How kooky is that. I just hope nobody gets the wrong idea of what doctors in hospitals do from watching this show.

Lab Results

I received my results for my blood lab this past Thursday. Apparently my iron is on the low side. Not low enough to be anaemic but low enough to make me tire easily. I don't know how I ended up with low iron. No my monthly friend isn't too heavy and yes I do eat meat every day. I like hamburgers and have least one a week. I am not pale. My cheeks are rosy. It is a mystery to me how I ended up with low iron. Anyways I have to take one iron pill a day to top up my iron levels. Don't get me wrong I like Ashton Kutcher as an actor but I have a hard time picturing him on that show. How are they going to write him into the show? I think it would be just too weird watching Two and Half Men without the Charlie Harper character. Charlie Sheen was the star of the show. The show just won't be the same without him. They should have had waited till the end of the season to let go Charlie Sheen and just end the series this year on a positive note. They could have had the Jake character drop out of high school and move in with his girlfriend. Allen could have run off to Las Vegas and married some rich older lady and Charlie Harper would have finally have the house all to himself again. That would have been satisfactory ending to the series. At least they could have had one more episode this season where Charlie Harper is written off the show and the series ended. Instead they are introducing a new character so late in the game that the show will not end with fond memories but will be remembered for the acrimony that went on between Charlie Sheen and the producer of the show.

The Office without Michael Scott

I watched the office last night. It was just not the same without the Michael Scott character played by Steven Carell. Michael Scott did act stupid at times but he was likable and not mean like DeAngelo Vickers. This new character DeAngelo Vickers is mean and stupid which is not an endearing combination. Don't get me wrong I like Will Ferrell and his does a good job with the DeAngelo Vickers character. It is the writers that have written an unlikable character. I give this show another season and it will go off the air because of poor ratings. The Michael Scott character leaving the office is like the Fonz leaving Happy Days or the Beaver leaving Leave it to Beaver it's just not the same anymore. You can't have your star character leave the show. The producers who fired Charlie Sheen didn't continue the Two and Half Men show without the Charlie Harper character because they knew it wouldn't fly with audiences and they also knew there was no one that could play Charlie Harper better than Charlie Sheen. They should've just had Pam and Jim marry at the end of this season when Michael Scott was leaving the show and ended the Office Series. It would have ended the show nice and neatly. Besides most shows end around the 7th or 8th season anyways.

Oh crap! :-o

I was just reading online that Sony had another cyber attack this time it was their online services. I remember registering a pc game I bought a few years ago and I had to create a online account with them to register it. I don't know what information I had in the account other than my user name and password because I rarely ever accessed the account. It might possibly have my name and birth date. I don't remember. It has me a little concerned. I usually use gift cards or prepaid cards online so I am not worried about credit card numbers but still I don't like the idea of anybody having my user information. This is why I don't use credit cards or paypal. Almost any system can be hacked if the hacker is highly skilled and determined. It bugs me that some websites will only accept regular credit cards or paypal not the Visa or MasterCard gift cards. I am sure pay pal and the credit card companies probably have great security but these other websites that sell goods and services I am not too sure about. If a big company like Sony can be hacked and they can afford the good security what does that mean for smaller companies doing business online? Anyways I am probably just being too paranoid.

Where's my vein!

I went to the doctor today to get some lab work done. I had to fast for 14 hours before getting blood drawn. I arrived early to get it done and over with. There was 16 people head of me in line. The waiting room was packed with people coming and going. It was like an assembly line. What I noticed was that I was the youngest adult in the room most of the people were senior citizens. I don't know why that was I could only speculate but it was bummer sitting there waiting for almost 35 minutes to be seen. Once it was my turn I went back to one of the little cubicles and sat in the chair waiting for them to prick me with a needle. The funny thing was it took them close to 10 minutes to find a vein in one of my arms. The woman had to call somebody else back to help find a vein in my arm. The veins in my arms are that deep under the skin that you can't feel or see them. I am not fat it just that I have always had deep veins even as a kid nurses have had hard time finding a vein to draw blood from. After having my blood drawn and I went to local restaurant and finally had breakfast. I can't get over how miserable fasting is. I don't know how some people do it more than one day. I find it uncomfortable. Rest assured I will never be one of those people that deliberately starves themselves.

Conservatives have a majority now

I had an inkling that the Conservatives would get in again but I had know idea if they would get a majority or not. My worst fears for this election have come to past. We have a majority government. What that means is for the next 5 years the Conservatives can do what ever the hell they like and don't have to answer to any one. They have enough members of parliament to ram any piece legislation through the House of Commons and they don't have to rely on the opposition for any support. The NDP getting to be the official opposition for the first time is bitter sweet because what ever they say or do will mean diddly squat because the Conservatives have a majority and they can do what ever they like. They don't have to listen to the opposition at all and they probably won't.

From past experience I find that any political party that gets a majority eventually ends up corrupt and involved in scandals. From this majority government you can expect massive tax cuts for the rich and big wealthy corporations and tiny tax cuts for the middle class that will be offset with cuts to government programs, user fees and increased debt. They have to make up the short fall in government revenue some how. Tax cuts don't come without a cost to someone. That is the thing they don't tell people when they promise tax cuts. This is what Americans are learning the hard way from all the tax cuts they have received. They have a government that is headed down the road to bankruptcy. You can't have a spend and cut taxes government. Money has to come from somewhere to pay for things.

You can also expect some unpleasant surprises from a majority government as well. Things that you would never dream that they would do. Who would of thought when Ontario elected the provincial Liberals in office that they would bring in smart meters and a health care tax to gouge Ontarians. They never said they would do anything like that when they ran for office. I am sure the federal Conservatives have some unpleasant things in store for us as well that we don't know anything about and they might have not even thought up yet but will in the future. It seems that each consecutive majority government whether provincial or federal make things worse for the ordinary working Joe with their stupid ill conceived plans. Well it should be interesting to see what the Conservatives get up to. Canadian federal politics has just gotten a whole lot more interesting.

Voting Day

I hope we get another minority government. I don't want to see any party get a majority. It is too bad the Liberals are not doing better. I would like to see them get a minority government backed by the NDP. The conservatives have had their turn in office now its somebody else's turn to lead. I wouldn't mind a NDP minority government but I know that the other political parties would not back the NDP at all and they would be lucky to last a year without another election being called. The best case scenario would be a minority Liberal government backed by the NDP as the official opposition but it looks like we will end up with another conservative government with the NDP this time as the official opposition. That is if polls can be believed. Well it will be interesting to see what the results of this election will be. I am keeping my fingers crossed for another minority government. :-)

Conservative Majority in the cards?

I just heard that NDP have come ahead of the Liberals in the polls and now are in second place with the Conservatives in first place. That would mean a Conservative majority. Can you imagine a right wing government with a majority? The media are going overboard on this and will make people sick of hearing about it before the event even happens. I really don't care one way or another if William and Kate marry. I have more pressing issues to concern myself with. I don't understand why people are getting so excited by this wedding. The way some people are going on about it you would think they were the one's getting married not William and Kate. Will I being getting up at 3:00 am to watch the Royal wedding on TV? No are you kidding! I like my sleep. Oh I probably get the highlights on the wedding from the local news but I certainly won't be sitting in front of the TV for hours hearing some news anchor go on and on about what kind of tea will be served at the reception and what kind of flower arrangements are in the wedding. What makes a good song? Some
people think it is matter of personal taste and that any song can be considered a
good song and that it is all relative. I don't think it is all relative. It was soooooo sloooooow! First they asked me for some picture ID and my voter card to mark me off in their books. Then they tell me to go stand in another line to do the same thing all over again! It was too much duplication and then I was finally allowed to vote and it took all of two seconds to mark my x beside the candidate I chosen to vote for. The real kicker was they weren't even busy and there was only one other person a head of me and yet they made me wait and wait. I hope this isn't going to be like this come election day or there will be massive line ups and a lot of disgruntled people.

Time to hold your nose and vote again

I think I will vote in this up coming election. Mmmmm who should I vote for dumb, dumber or dumbest. Personally I don't want any political party to have a majority. You give a political party a majority and they go hog wild and ram legislation through parliament that is not to the benefit of the ordinary person. These political parties reward their special interest group backers to the detriment of ordinary Canadians. Every time a political party has a majority they do major damage to this country that is hard if not impossible to undue. This is why things keep getting worse and worse in this country. At least with a minority government they are constrained and can't ram through every little piece of crappy flawed legislation they like. They have to answer to the opposition. A minority government limits the damage that can be done. None of the political parties are any good and they are beholden to special interest groups and are not working for the common good of the people. Don't be fooled by these politicians saying they care. They only care what you think come election time the rest of the time you are a little after thought.

Changed look

I changed the look of the blog because it wasn't showing up right on some computer screens and devices like ipads and what not. The weird thing is this show has been on for four seasons and I am only hearing about it now. I first heard about when I read Mad Magazine poking fun at it calling it Sad Men. I feel so out of it sometimes. I recently flipped through some celebrity and fashion magazines and it brought it home how out of touch I am with celebrity anything and fashion in particular. I don't even know what the latest music is because I don't listen to the radio anymore or watch Much Music. Anyways Sundays are really boring and this Sunday is so depressing. It is grey and overcast outside with depressing programs on TV. Why do they like to show shows about people dying from some incurable disease or struggling with a disability? Real life can be depressing enough as it is without watching it as form of entertainment. This would be a good day to shop or go to the movies. It definitely not a great day for TV watching.

Don't know what to blog about

I don't know what to blog about half the time. It will have to do for now until I find something better. It is a picture of a creek bed near where I live. It is kind of murky looking which makes it more interesting. The picture was shot from the bridge using the zoom feature on the camera. I than used gimp filters on the photo to jazz it up. It doesn't look too bad. Since the time change back to Standard Time, I am going to bed and waking up at a more normal time. The time change should have happened two weeks ago. My body was wanting to make the switch for the past two weeks or more. I don't know why we have to copy the Americans when it comes to the time change. We live in a more northern climate with less sunlight. There is nothing worse for ones sleep than having to wake up in the dark. My body wants to wake up with the sunlight now it can. I am a day person not a night owl. I am at my best in the morning when the sun is out. It is much more cheerful with the sun out. Hey where did the sun go? It just went in behind some clouds.
